James Messemer is the Executive Director of San Francisco Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities (RBI) Program. In addition to founding San Francisco RBI, Messemer is presently an Angel investor whose primary area of focus is in the areas of medical devices and healthcare information technology.
Prior to investing in start-ups and entrepreneurs, Messemer served as the CEO and board member of Hopelink Corporation, a privately-held information solutions company that developed software-based products and services to improve new cancer product development efforts in the bio-pharmaceutical industry. Under Messemer’s direction, the company developed and launched its initial product, HopeLink Clinical Trial Service, hosted by over 100 professional and nonprofit organizations’ websites, with a monthly reach of 2.5 million patients.
Prior to founding HopeLink, Messemer held various executive-level positions at Conceptus, Scimed Life Systems, Inc., a Boston Scientific Company, and USCI, a C.R. Bard Division.
Before beginning his professional career, Messemer enjoyed an active athletic career in soccer (Detroit Express, Washington Diplomats, and the Denver Avalanche) and also signed a free-agent contract with the New York Jets football team as a kicker. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Texas Tech University.
